Texel egy holland kissziget, egyedülálló a klímája, van romantikus világító tornya, dűnés tengerpartja, ami Nemzeti Park is egyben, hét apró városkája tömérdek birkája. Konkrétan van egy fajta amit texel-i birkának hívnak. Ja, és van egy fóka menhely is, ami az ötvenes évek óta működik. Egész jól hangzik, igaz? Ha valaki Hollandiában jár, feltétlenül látogassa meg a szigetet. Mi Bécsből mentünk, így az Amsterdam-i reptérről egyszerűen csak vonatra szálltunk és Den Helder-be utaztunk, ami kb. másfél óra volt. Itt a vasútállomáson felpattantunk a 33-mas buszra (nem nehéz megtalálni, az összes turista erre vár) azzal elmentünk a kikötőbe, és felszálltunk a kompra. Ez utóbbi egyébként félóránként jár és kb. 20 perc a menetideje. A jegy meglepően olcsó, mindössze pár Euro. Hihetetlenül szép hétvégénk volt, sikerült egy takaros és olcsó kis házat kibérelnünk, sokat sétáltunk, nevettünk és amíg a többiek társasoztak.... addig én tanultam. :) Haha, de azért így is nagyon jó volt. Texel kihagyhatatlan, mindenki nézze meg magának és ne felejtse otthon a fényképezőgépét úgy, mint én...

The father of my better half has recently turned 60, so a decent present was well-deserved. This year the birthday surprise came in the form of a long family weekend, which we spent in the island of Texel, in the Netherlands.
Texel is a really unique little island, it has a romantic lighthouse, a dune park by the sea side -which is actually a national park itself-, seven small villages and loads of ships!:) It is not a joke, there is actually a domestic breed which is called Texel ship, as it originates from this island. And the most important thing... They have a seal sanctuary, which was founded in the 50's. Sounds great, huh?
So, once you are in the Netherlands, please do not miss this unique chance to visit this lovely island, it is really a thing worth to see.
As we flew to the Netherlands from Austria, we simply got on the train from Schipol airport heading to Den Helder. The journey took approximately 90 minutes. Once we arrived at the railway station, we changed to Bus 33 to get to the ferry station. (it is hard to miss the bus, all the tourists are queueing over there) Once you get to the harbor, you take the ferry (the ticket is not pricey at all) and after a 20 minute-long journey you find yourself in the island of Texel.
We had a marvelous weekend, rented a beautiful little cottage. We walked, cooked and laughed a lot. As for the evenings: the others were playing board games, but I was preparing for my exam. Surprisingly, I did not mind it at all, and the end-result was a good grade!
So, Texel is a must see! Get yourself together and go there, and please do not leave your camera back home as I did... Hmmmm.:)
