Reims, Franciaország - Reims, France

Pommerey House, Reims
Alig érkeztem haza a tengerentúlról, ismét útnak indultunk. Ezúttal Reims-be, Franciaországba igyekeztünk, egy francia-magyar baráti pár kisfiának, Gabriel-nek a keresztelőjére. Csupán két napot töltöttünk Reims-ben, de a keresztelő és a finom falatok mellett jutott idő ellátogatni a Pommery  pincészetbe és a méltán híres Notre-Dame Katedrálisba is. Reims egyébként Franciaország északi részén, a Champagne tartományban fekszik, lakossága pedig kb. 190000 főre tehető. A város történelmi jelentőségét mi sem mutathatná jobban,  hogy a francia királyokat pont itt, a Notre - Dame Katedrálisban koronázták évszázadokon keresztül.

I hardly got home from the overseas, when  I found myself on the road again heading to France. Our plan was to  drive to the city of Reims, and celebrate the baptism of Gabriel, the lovely son of our French - Hungarian firends. We had only two short days in this charming city, yet managed to steal some time for ourselves and visit the Vranker Pommerey Champagne House  and the Notre - Dame Cathedral. With the estimated population of 190000, Reims lies in the North part of France, and is the largest city of the Champagne region. Nothing could illustrate better the historical importance of the place then the Crowning Ceremony of French kings, taking place in the Notre -Dame Cathedral through hundreds of years. The Cathedral–which has been an UNESCO Heritage Site since 1991, celebrated its 800th anniversary with a massive, multi-colour light and sound show in 2011. The show, called 'Réve the Couleurs' was displayed on the Cathedral itself, and turned out to be a clear success. Luckily, the French government decided to repeat the show in this year as well.  Accompanied by some friends, we went to  see this 3D magic, and found it absolutely stunning! Unfortunately, I could not take any photos with my camera, but here is a video for you from youtube! Hope this will do the job:)
As part of our short weekend program, we decided to tour the Vranker Pommerey Champagne House, and payed 12 Euros for the entrance ticket. In return, a local guide took us around in the cellar, talked about the history of the place, the champagne production and the Pommerey brand itself. I guess it is needless to say that once the tour was over, we were all very happy and relieved to finally sit down and enjoy a glass of free champagne! Oh... speaking of champagne, the bubblies originating strictly from the Champagne region of France, yes we brought home exactly 12 bottles, along with a massive amount of French cheese and paté. Yum:)

Notre-Dame Katedrális

Gigantikus!

Barangolunk a pincében:)

Kétségtelenül jól esett egy pohárka!

Pezsgőt valaki?
